What’s Shaking at Marina Pez Vela – March 2018
March is one of the hottest months of the year both in temperatures and in important activities here at Marina Pez Vela and we are honored to share with our community all of the events and details to add to your calendars! The activities here are diverse and include two full weeks of tournaments, dance performances, live music, the iconic movie nights, Semana Santa, and will culminate with the April 1st elections for Costa Rica’s next president!
FISHING TOURNAMENTS
March and April are the two busiest months here at MPV for tournaments, both open to the public as well as some private tournaments. Whether you are an active angler or are just looking for some fun times, the tournaments at the project bring energy, world class anglers and always some amazing fish to see at weigh-ins, stories being told at the bar (where fish magically grow in size and strength) and the energy is electric all over the project.
Our two private tournaments are the Amateur Fishing Club of Costa Rica Tournament which kicks off our March events on Saturday March 10 and Sunday March 11. The second tournament is called the Little One and is put on from Sunday March 18th-Wednesday March 21. Make sure to come by and join in the fun!
The BIG TOURNAMENT
It is our signature Quepos Billfish Cup which promises to be our most attended event since we started this world class event. The QBC dates are March 14-March 17 and it is NOT too late to sign up either with your own boat or through our IFISH offices on one of the charter boats available. This is a qualifying event for the Offshore World Championship in 2019 and combines a great deal of fun, both angling and in our dock socials with a chance to compete with the best anglers from around Costa Rica and the world who come to take part in the QBC. SEMANA SANTA
For anyone who has lived here in the area for a year or more, we know that Semana Santa is a tremendously important holiday for a host of reasons and the family here at Marina Pez Vela is working to insure that all of our local and visiting guests can share in the festivities here at the project as well. On Jueves Santo, Thursday of Easter Week, we will have an extra movie night and a live orchestra concert on Saturday of Easter week. AS you all know, our community will be very busy and all of our tenants will be offering special rates, dinner and drink specials and the marina will be a place to be each day and especially active during our sunset and evening hours so come and join the celebration.
MOVIE NIGHTS
As the days get hotter during March, the need to get outside during the evening hours, enjoy the beautiful starry nights and relax in the cooler evening weather is a necessity. Our outdoor FREE movie nights have become a great way to come down and enjoy the sunset, some amazing food at one of our seven restaurants here, some fresh gelato and just relax under the stars.
