Life at Escondida Beach here in Manuel Antonio is magical. It is unique, special and free to all who wish to encounter such a magnificent paradise.

Whether looking up in the trees to see daily monkey crossings or down at the sand at iguanas or colorful crabs, the same magical experience is shared by all. Clear indications of this wonderfully enriching experience are smiles of joy and happiness. And of course, everyone running to get their camera to take photos to capture the moment.

But really, what causes this shift in emotion, this sudden rush to capture the moment on film? A moment whereby in your future, you can go back and conjure up those same special feelings. Better yet, share those memories with family and friends to say, “I was here!” “I saw this!” and “I felt THAT!” THAT is pura vida. That is “pure living”.

Well, very simply put, that shift in emotion and energy towards PURA VIDA is your connection to nature. A source of energy you are supposed to be resonating with and connected to always…naturally. But perhaps for many, all too infrequently in your life.

It’s here in your moment at Escondida Beach where your connection to nature allows you to relax. And when you can relax in nature, your spirit and energy is renewed, refreshed and recharged. Your energy resonates in harmony with nature…as it should be…naturally. This shift allows you to experience life in a whole new perspective and perhaps begin thinking differently about nature, resources and energy.

WATER…just think about water. Everything is made of and with water. Every living thing needs water to survive. The earth plane consists of 72% water comprised of oceans, lakes and rivers. In certain parts of the world, water is abundant while in others it is scarce. Here in the rainforest, we have an abundance of rain in the green season. In the peak dry season very little rainfall occurs. Those of us fortunate to live here anticipate the green season with all the rain. Perhaps it is our peak season, as we know all that rain brings a lot of new life to the rainforest. All wild life and plant life seem to flourish remarkably and change on a daily basis.

Look out into the ocean here at the beach, and realize there is an abundant of sea life in that vast large body of water. Recently here at Playa Escondida, whales and dolphins have been spotted. Surely they naturally know the special magical stops on their journey. Do you? Dolphins are a symbol of love and communication. It is a special magical experience to see them.

La Playa Escondida in Spanish translates to “Hidden Beach”. But why named hidden? Is it a treasure, a secret? A discovery of enlightenment? A shift of natural spiritual consciousness or awareness? It’s your journey; you decide. Why is a “day at the beach” more enriching to one’s life? Because it is esthetically beautiful or calming with the sounds of the waves? Do you ever hear people say “Gee I feel great, just spent hours in the office or on the computer”? People always feel sooo much better and finish the day with…”I had a great day at the beach and feel great!! Why? Because 70% of the oxygen we breathe comes directly from the ocean. And with all that oxygen rich air…we allow nature to help us on our journey..as it should be..naturally.

And what about that big vast large body of water, the ocean just teeming with all that sea life. How can you connect yourself to this wonderful natural abundance? Well if you wander over to the rocks just before Playitas at just the right tide time..there is a few inches of clear water… a natural rock pool where you can see lots of little tropical fish. This will definitely help you…Better yet go in…and float…and relax. Look up to the sky and gently allow the calm tide coming in to swirl you around for different views of the cascading water over and down the rocks.

And realize the tide is bringing in water enriched with new life and energy; your connection to nature. Relax, float, relax some more in your natural rock pool…feel and enjoy!!!

PLEASE REALIZE THE OCEAN IS VERY POWERFUL AND SHOULD BE RESPECTED AT ALL TIMES. FOR YOUR SAFETY USE CAUTION AT ALL TIMES AS THE UNDERTOW AND RIPTIDES CAN BE DANGEROUS. IF YOU DECIDE TO CROSS THE ROCKS, PLEASE REALIZE THE TIDE IS STRONG AND CAN COME UP QUICKLY. YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO CROSS BACK AGAIN.

To all our visitors from all over the world: Welcome/Bienvenido and PURA VIDA.

See you at Escondida Beach for another beautiful day here in paradise.

Life at Escondida Beach here in Manuel Antonio is magical. It is an amazing rainforest; a tranquil jungle filled with the most incredible wildlife nature has to offer. There is always a majestic flow of monkeys, iguanas, birds, crabs, butterflies, sloths, turtles and many others. A wildlife that never fails to capture the attention of and fascinate visitors as well as locals. You might not always see the wildlife, but they always know you are there. After all, you are in their home; the rainforest. The slower you move, the more wildlife you see.

Nature presents the perfect opportunity for people to observe, learn and appreciate all aspects of life’s journey. All too often people are consumed with accomplishing their goals, projects, or getting to their final destination while only focusing on the end result. Here in Costa Rica the culture places more importance on “In the process of” as opposed to the final result, creating what feels like…a very slow challenging journey. And nothing emphasizes that philosophy more than nature and wildlife. If you really observe the wildlife, they seem to exist and survive slowly and effortlessly without the struggle many people have in their journey. Animals encourage and nurture their young to thrive and survive, and really, nobody tells them they can’t. With people, perhaps the struggle exists for many because they have been told they can’t, resulting in famous expression: “But I’m trying sooo hard”! Maybe it is time to slow down on trying so hard and just BE…in nature…and observe.

The monkeys don’t try to swing from tree to tree; they just swing. Birds and butterflies don’t try to fly; they just fly. And oh, the slowest of them all in not trying to do anything is the sloth. A local favorite are the sand artists; big sand crabs effortlessly carrying sand from their holes on the beach. A very slow process creates a beautiful design left in the sand, a mosaic or perhaps a crop circle; trying effortlessly to tell us something.

One of the most joyous observations of nature’s slow journey was the birth of 98 sea turtles here at Escondida Beach in Manuel Antonio. Last December, it was nothing short of a miracle for those fortunate enough to witness nature at it’s finest example. The sun was setting, reflecting a bright red color shimmering on the ocean and shoreline. Similar to the parting of the red sea, people stepped aside in amazement to allow those turtles to, effortlessly and slowly, begin their journey to the ocean.

But what was really remarkable was everyone’s observation and excitement. Statements from locals were heard, “Wow, I’ve lived here my whole life, I’ve never seen this!”. Another proclaimed, ”The turtles have not been here in 20 years!”. And after all the turtles made it to the ocean no one said a word, but we all realized we just slowed down, observed, and enriched our journey in life.

To all our visitors here from all over the world, Welcome/Bienvenido! Pura Vida

See you at the beach for another beautiful day here in paradise…

Life at the beach here in Manuel Antonio is magical. An oasis that transcends one into a timeless state of relaxation and peace. Truly a tranquil paradise comprised of natural beauty, amazing wildlife, and the soothing sounds of the ocean’s waves. Nature creates the perfect setting for relaxation as the tropical breezes melts away your stress and worries from everyday life.

It is a wonderful feeling to witness the magic of this beach and its effect on people. How fortunate to actually see people literally transform into a joyous carefree ZEN state. There are so many happy people here. People come to the beach for different reasons, but leave with the same feeling that they have experienced something very beautiful and special. Smiles are beaming as a person proclaims: “Wow…This really is picture postcard perfect!!!.”

A favorite statement heard here often: “Aaahhhhhhh….Now this is the life!!!..For those of us fortunate enough to live here…we know this special feeling: this magic…this positive energy.. this pure life..It is called PURA VIDA….A moment captured when you feel everything is just absolutely perfect, as nature intended it to be.

If you have not been to the beach recently, come on down to revisit your paradise. Many wonderful positive changes have taken place here on the beach to benefit all. Sincere gratitude to all who have put forth such positive effort to create such a wonderful destination for all to enjoy!

A favorite time here on the beach are the spectacular sunsets. Nature paints the perfect picture as the sky fills with brilliant colors. As the sun descends into the ocean, the awesome reflection of red, orange and purple over the ocean and shore, reminds us to reflect upon ourselves. As the day comes to a close, we have the opportunity to realize our gratitude and just how fortunate we are to be able to experience this magic here at the beach, and all that life has to offer.

The beach here in Manuel Antonio is a treasure…but certainly not a hidden one and open to all. To all our visitors here from all over the world: WELCOME/Bienvenido!
