Before we start I need you to be sure that you can both understand and say these lifesaving pregunta words.

¿Qué? = ¿What?
¿Dónde? = ¿Where?
¿Cuándo? = ¿When?
¿Cuál? = ¿Which?
¿Quién? = ¿Who?

¿Por qué? = ¿Why? ¿Por qué no? = ¿Why not? Porque = Because.
¿Por qué estudia español usted? ¿Why do you study Spanish?
Porque vivo en Costa Rica. Because I live in Costa Rica.
Porque sí. Because, because.

Let’s define what “spend time with the language” DOES NOT mean. It DOES NOT mean:
Sit in a classroom.
Answer questions or drills.
Review grammar rules. Review list of words.
Let’s define what “spend time with the language” means:
To be with the language. To play with the language.
To read things that are written in the language.
To listen to songs that are sung in the language.
To watch telenovelas=soup operas, cartoons or movies (if you can), that are in the language.
If you have friends who speak the language, spend time with them, even if most the time you are just listening because you don’t speak well enough to really say very much.
Do something you like to do, for example: Drink with the language. Do “pillow talk” with the language. Just joking.

¿How many hours per day do you spend with the language?
Not enough guys… Not enough… Try to spend MORE TIME with the language. Everyday guys… Everyday… At least ONE HOUR… Doing what you like.
