TED Talks.  PARTE I

Spanish Sucks by Os¡Hola amigos!  ¿How are you guys doing?  With this issue I am accomplishing my article number 50!!!!!  I remember when I said to myself:  “When I accomplish fifty articles I am gonna write an e-book”.  Well, it’s on my list now…

50th lesson!Today, I am gonna share with you some of the links of some of the most inspirational TED Talks I have watched about learning languages.

Some of them have influenced me and/or my methodology of teaching, some of them (quite my favorite ones) have changed my point of view about learning languages and/or why to learn languages.  ANY LANGUAGE.

T.E.D. logoSo, today it is not about me, grammar, or Spanish.  Today is about languages, that beautiful and complex way to communicate.  Cheers to those who are doing great and brave things out there sharing and spreading their ideas and speeches with the world.  Cheers to them! J

TEDxSanAntonio – Benny Lewis – Fluent in Three Months – Rapid Language Hacking

This was the first video about polyglots and language learning that I saw.  Benny the Irish Polyglot, jaja.  I thought he was super cool.  I started to follow him like five years ago.  I shared his “secret” in a previous Quepolandia:  SPEAK FROM DAY 1.

Breaking the language barrier | Tim Doner | TEDxTeen 2014

Very impressive and comic young man.  He spends much of his time perfecting his linguistic skills in different neighborhoods around the city, and to date his Youtube channel has received over 3 million hits. In this video he explains some techniques on how to memorize words and speaks a little about how languages normally bring culture attached:  YOU CAN TRANSLATE WORDS EASILY BUT YOU CAN’T QUITE TRANSLATE MEANING.

How to learn any language in six months | Chris Lonsdale | TEDxLingnanUniversity

You like to know science behind methods and principles about learning languages?  Me too!  In this presentation Chris will give us five principles:  5 PRINCIPLES & 7 ACTIONS.

5 techniques to speak any language | Sid Efromovich | TEDxUpperEastSide

I support these five techniques.  Remember:  A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH THE FIRST STEP.

Hacking Language Learning: Dr. Conor Quinn at TEDxDirigo

Dr. Conor McDonough Quinn is a documentary linguist, endangered language revitalization worker, and avid learner and teacher of languages. Raised in Portland, Maine, he has lived at length in Indonesia, China, and Oman, and has worked extensively with several indigenous communities of the Northeast.  I really share the points of this speech, I can see my methodology and lessons based on those points:  GO FOR IT, GOOD LUCK.
