What’s Shaking at Marina Pez Vela – April 2019
March Madness may be over, but April is going to include celebrations of all shapes and sizes here at Marina Pez Vela, as we embrace the last month of our peak travel season, dry season under the stars, and get ready to welcome the cooling first rains of May! It seems like every month is action packed here at MPV, but with each passing year, the team at the project, along with our guests and tenants find new ways to reinvent this space and build on the synergy between the community fo Quepos/Manuel Antonio and the marina. April 2019 will be another fun filled time as we forge another stitch in the fabric of our community.
Last month of MOVIE NIGHTS
With the end of the typical dry season we also have our last series of FREE MOVIE NIGHTS here at Marina Pez Vela. It is so common for families, couples, and friends to be looking for something to do on Friday nights and this is a great way to share under the stars, enjoy some of the great food and shopping at MPV, and relax with some great cinema on Costa Rica’s largest outdoor screen

NOTE: We have a special Thursday night movie, a Costa Rican film based on one of the nation’s most iconic pieces of literature, Marco Ramirez during Semana Santa, and Friday, April 19th will be our LAST movie night as on the 26th of April we will be hosting the final leg of the Marina Pez Vela Championship Series of Fishing that weekend.
WORLD ART DAY
We are taking the liberty to move this up so we can celebrate on the weekend. April 15th is World Art Day but we will have a two day celebration on April 13th and 14th here at Marina Pez Vela. We will have an open air exposition of a variety of styles of artwork, sculpture, and crafts by invited artists from the area interacting with all the guests to the marina. The COPAZA theatre will be presenting open air theatre and dance as well and the idea is to have a multi-day celebration and experience here at the Marina. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for more details, but don’t miss this opportunity to mix this beautiful natural backdrop with art and culture
SEMANA SANTA
For the locals, you already know… for those here visiting… get ready. Semana Santa is one of the BUSIEST weeks of the entire year at the beaches and the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area is no different. Millions of people come out to the coast to celebrate Holy Week with family and friends and it is one of the most beautiful celebrations of family, friends and celebrating the Pura Vida. WE will have an extra movie night as mentioned above, but in general there is going to be GREAT ENERGY and movement with the Art Festival and increase in people. Make sure to reserve space at our restaurants and leave a bit extra time for traffic around sunset coming down from Manuel Antonio!
FISHING TOURNAMENTS
April brings the final event in the Marina Pez Vela Championship Series, the iconic MPV OPEN as well as the first dates of the Offshore World Championship. These tournaments are the final events of the primary tournament season and bring anglers from around the globe to compete for the most prestigious prizes and trophies in the world.
MPV OPEN: April 25-27
This Tournament is the second and final leg of our MPV tournament series and is also a chance for anglers to compete against some of the best teams in the world, as many participants in the OWC come to fish the MPV open as a warm up for the World Championships. Rules allow for hook and hand so even less experience anglers can get in the mix and experience the excitement of tournament fishing. IF you are not joining in the action on the water, do NOT miss the daily weigh-ins and action each night in the plaza and at the weekly Radio Dos live show from Runaway.
OWC: April 29-May 3
The GRANDDADDY of global fishing tournaments, the Offshore World Championships is an invitation only event bringing the top teams for more than 20 countries here to Costa Rica and Marina Pez Vela to compete for the best angling team on the planet. While this is an invitation only tournament, the energy in the mornings as the boats go out and each afternoon with patriotic teams from around the globe coming back is contagious. Make a point to come down and join in this global party
