What’s Shaking at Marina Pez Vela? – July 2016

By Scott Cutter

The first rains have come and gone, veranillo de San Juan is upon us, and as always, our Marina team is making sure that the community of Quepos is a part of this project’s daily energy, growth and culture. There is lots to report, so here we go!

Slip Expansion

Our Second phase dock expansion is fully underway at this time and anyone visiting the marina has probably taken notice of the large barge which we have on site. This is not a new pleasure cruiser, but a working barge which is laying all the pilings which are the base for our new floating docks at the project. As we have outlined in previous Quepolandia editions, the expansion is going to more than double or linear footage of dockage at the project with a total of 91 new slips, which we will be operational in December. This expansion is going to be attracting a lot more investment, tourism and opportunities for our community.

Falafel Bar opens at Marina Pez Vela

Yes, you can probably already smell the delicious middle eastern fragrance each day as you walk anywhere near the project as we are excited to announce and welcome Michal and Izhar, the owner of Falafel Bar to the project. Their new location which looks AMAZING, is open and welcomes everyone to come and experience some delicious and healthy food, made with lots of love. If you haven’t tried it, they will open your palate to some amazing offerings and have something for everyone. The prices are fantastic and the setting unbeatable. They are located on the water front level on the corner, great outdoor seating to enjoy the breezes and watch the boats coming in and out of the Marina.

The Malecon Expansion

An ongoing theme of this update and our marina is our commitment to the community of Quepos. Perhaps the newest and most obvious evidence is the public work which we have just completed in collaboration with the Municipality for the first section of the Malecon. The paver-stones and new infrastructure work has all been completed and gives everyone a sense of just what we can accomplish if we work together, private and public enterprise together for the common good. Marina Pez Vela contributed the design, labor and machinery for this first phase and the Muni took care of the rest.
