What’s Shaking at Marina Pez Vela? – July 2017

SUMMERTIME is here.. at least for our friends up north and what was once a sleepy time of year here in Costa Rica has become an important season for our marina, tourism sector and community. Costa Rica is an incredibly popular destination for the summer season with families, groups and travellers discovering the proximity, beauty, peaceful nature and diversity that the country has to offer. Here are some of the important highlights to mark on your calendars and to take note of in the project.

4th of July HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE U.S. OF A!

The July 4th celebrations here in Costa Rica have become some of the biggest parties of the year as the vibrant expat population, visiting tourists and locals join together to celebrate and enjoy the friendships we have all been able to build here in paradise. The Marina invites EVERYONE to join us here at the project as our restaurants will be running specials menus with everything from hot dogs to BBQ, with drink specials around the house! There will be activities for the kids and families to enjoy and a traditional fireworks display @ 8PM to close out the evening—or get things started depending on how your plans go! Stay tuned to our Facebook page or main website for more details on the schedule and events! It is IMPORTANT to note that locals, Costa Ricans, Canadians and EVERYONE are invited. The US Citizens living and visiting here love this place as we are treated like family and there is no greater honor for the expats, than celebrating a bit of their own history with their friends and families here in their new home!

GRAND OPENING OF BANCO PROMERICA @ MPV

After much, much, much demand, we are very excited to announce the opening of a full service branch of Banco Promerica here at Marina Pez Vela. July is the first month that the bank will be operational at the project and we are incredibly grateful to have this important service here on site. The commercial plaza and project is quickly evolving into a place for the community, local businesses and tourists alike to be able to dine, shop, relax, and now can handle their personal or corporate banking here right on site. The branch is located in the north tower just behind National Rent a Car and Hospital Metropolitano so make sure to drop by, get your accounts opened and enjoy the great service, personalised teams and convenience of this fantastic new branch!

OLE, OLE, OLE…TICOS, TICOS!

That’s right, THE SELE IS back and so is the big screen here at MPV. We are taking advantage, or hoping to, of the veranillo de San Juan (our Indian Summer) to roll out the big screen so that we can support the SELE in their quest for a title at the 2017 Gold Cup! In all of my time here in Costa Rica, never has the country been so united, so full of pride and joy than during this last World Cup run and we hope that the positive vibes, solidarity and collective joy starts RIGHT NOW in this important tournament which provides the last big official warm up prior to the 2018 Cup.

Friday July 7th, 7pm vs Honduras
Tuesday July 11th, 5:30pm vs Canada
Friday July 14th, 5:30pm vs French Guiana

Once we run the table in these three games we will announce our plans for the Quarterfinal, Semi and Finals here at the Marina, but mark your calendars now to come and watch with us under what we hope will be a star filled night and plenty of Goals for the SELE!

2018 TOURNAMENT SEASON IS GOING TO BE HUGE

While planning ahead might not be an integral part of the “pura vida” lifestyle, here at MPV we are always looking to the future and how we can insure that this project continues evolving as both an iconic part of our community as well as a world class destination that creates a global buzz. Our fishing tournaments have grown in size, scope and prize money every year and 2018 is going to be the BIGGEST, BADDEST, BIGGEST MONEY we have ever seen here at the project with $350,000 in cash and prizes on the line.

January 11-13th Pelagic Rockstar Tournament starts us off with two days of crazy fun and anglers from around the world coming for fun, fishing and to start the Costa Rican tournament season in style

March 14-17th the Iconic Quepos Billfish Cup our signature tournament will be held at MPV.

April 12-14th, the Marina Pez Vela Open which is the warm up tournament for the Offshore World Championships which are held the following week.
